Great Minds Think Unalike

Creative Director’s coming out is an invitation to Embrace Neurodiversity in the Creative Industry

Cannes, Wednesday 14th June 2023 - FamousGrey's Chief Creative Officer Peter Ampe and business coach Emily Rammant have co-authored a new book, "Great Minds Think Unalike," shedding light on the positive aspects of neurodiversity and challenging negative perceptions associated with neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, and OCD. As a creative with an impressive track record, Ampe has come to understand firsthand the value of neurodiversity in the advertising and marketing industry. The book is based on his personal experiences and is an invitation to reframe your difference as a talent.

Neurodiversity leads to creativity

Launched at the 70th International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, the book is inspired by personal stories which highlight the positive aspects of Neurodiversity and shows how Neurodiversity leads to enhanced creativity. The creative industry thrives on fresh and disruptive perspectives, making it a perfect fit for individuals with neurodivergent conditions who can offer unique and valuable contributions.

"The most brilliant ideas in the creative industry often come from people with neurodivergent minds. But surprisingly, our industry hasn’t paid yet attention to this invisible and, to many, still unknown form of diversity”, says FamousGrey’s CCO and co-author of the book Peter Ampe, who is both a juror and speaker at the 2023 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

He adds that neurodivergent minds shouldn’t be confined to the creative department, where we might expect to find them, they should be in every department and in every level.

A must-read for both individuals as companies

We often tend to focus on the many downsides of neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, and OCD. But in a world that is constantly evolving, the demand for individuals with diverse perspectives and talents has never been greater. “Great Minds Think Unalike” takes a different approach by looking in-depth at the special talents that go hand in hand with these conditions. Whether you already have a diagnosis or simply feel you’re on the neuroatypical spectrum, one thing is certain: once you’ve identified your unique talents, you’ll be able to make more focused choices in your life and work. You'll discover which job functions best showcase your talents, which colleagues complement your personality, and which environments and corporate cultures are right for you.

Embrace their talents and their needs

For Ampe, this topic is personal. His ASD and traits of ADHD have allowed him to better understand himself and appreciate his unique perspective and talents. This personal journey inspired him to co-author "Great Minds Think Unalike”. Now, the Creative Director and Business Coach Emily Rammant, who supported many people in finding their identity, call on companies to be more accepting and accommodating of neurodiverse individuals, as they require a nurturing environment to thrive.

Personal stories

The book aims to help readers understand what neurodiversity is, identifies neurodivergent talents, and learns how to create a neuro-inclusive workplace. It challenges the stereotypes and negative perceptions associated with neurodiverse conditions and offers a fresh perspective on how we can leverage these strengths to create more inclusive and innovative workplaces. It also includes relatable stories and actionable tips to help readers discover their own unique talents and make informed choices in their personal and professional lives.
